Akampeine Island (aka Punishment Island) is a tiny one tree island in Lake Bunyonyi. It was once a place where unmarried pregnant woman were abandoned and left to die. Their only hope of rescue being, if a man too poor to afford the price of a bride, would claim one of them to be his wife.

Lake Bunyonyi (“Place of many little birds”) lies in south western Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale close to the border with Rwanda.
The depth of the lake is rumored to vary between 44 m and 900 m, which if true would make the lake the second deepest in Africa.

This tumblog is here to show my love for Uganda; The Pearl of Africa, as it is known. I will post about the fun, happy side of Uganda; the people, the music, the movies, the food and so many other interesting things about it. This is not a political blog, it’s a place of joy and a place to showcase Ugandan culture and life styles (not usually shown in the typical media) to fellow Ugandans anywhere in the world and to foreigners curious about our country. Cheers!

P.S: if you have suggestions on how to improve this tumblog, write in my “ask box”, please. thanks.

Small Notice: This is a secondary tumblog, so far tumblr hasn’t enabled the “follow” back feature for secondary tumblogs so i can’t follow you back. Sorry.

Thank you & Stay Blessed.
