Akampeine Island (aka Punishment Island) is a tiny one tree island in Lake Bunyonyi. It was once a place where unmarried pregnant woman were abandoned and left to die. Their only hope of rescue being, if a man too poor to afford the price of a bride, would claim one of them to be his wife. © Dillon Marsh
